New Fairfield 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

New Fairfield marked the 17th anniversary of  the tragic events of September 11th at a ceremony held on September 9,2018 at 6:30 pm. The NFHS Civil Air Patrol posted the colors as the NFHS Chamber Choir sang our national anthem under the direction of Mr. Andrew Gadwah. Local Pastor Rev. Smith opened the ceremony with a prayer for the lost and the survivors. First Selectman Pat Delmonico recognized those we lost that day.She read each name aloud. She spoke of the courage shown in the face of unthinkable events. Also recognized during the event were New Fairfield citizens currently serving in various branches of the military and the civil servants who help our community each day as police officers, firefighters and EMTs.The Chamber Choir closed the event with a composition entitled “Sing Me to Heaven”. This memorial is an annual event open to all citizens who wish to take a moment to honor those we lost on that terrible day.
