Danette Onofrio announces candidacy for State Representative In the 108th House District

Danette Onofrio of New Fairfield announces her intention to pursue the election as the next state representative for the 108th house district to fill the seat of retiring Rep. Richard Smith. Onofrio will be seeking the democratic nomination at the 108th district convention on May 18, 2020. The 108th district represents the Towns of New Fairfield, Sherman, New Milford and Danbury.

Danette will be running on a platform to support local small business in the wake of the COVID-19

Pandemic, will fight for our towns to have the resources needed to continue providing quality education

And keep our property taxes low, insure continued state support of our local environmental resources, and

Fight for all working families to have access to the high standard of living offered in our communities.

Danette will be running on a platform to keep families safe and support local small business in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. She will fight for our towns to have the resources needed to continue to provide quality education and keep our property taxes low. She will ensure continued state support for our schools, local environment and infrastructure and will fight for all working families.

Onofrio has twenty years of experience working for a legislative body. She then worked for a public health agency to improve health outcomes, a substance abuse prevention agency and an +enlarged city school district. She also was an adjunct professor for the Marist College School of Management. Currently, she is a small business owner in New Fairfield.

Danette is a native of New York, but her father moved the family to Connecticut to work on the railroad. Her family returned to New York State after his death but came back to Connecticut to marry Charles Onofrio and into the family rooted in New Fairfield for 35 years. Together, they blended two daughters, two sons, their spouses and three grandchildren.

Danette is a mentor with Western Connecticut SCORE, a library director of the New Fairfield Public Library and active members of the Friends of the Library and Woman’s Club of Danbury/New Fairfield. Her hobby is partaking of the natural beauty of Candlewood Lake, Ball Pond, other natural resources and participating in the Nature Book Club.
