Connecticut Press Club’s April 28 Zoom Event Features The New York Times’ Nancy Wartik

The Connecticut Press Club announced today the next installment of their popular virtual Fireside Chat series, How to Handle Online Comments, which will be held on Wednesday, April 28 from 7:00-8:30 pm.

The segment will feature Nancy Wartik, a New York-based journalist who has written on a broad range of topics, including mental health, social, and media issues. Additionally, Wartik works for the New York Times’ Community Department, where she’s moderated reader comments and dealt with audience concerns for more than a decade.

The Zoom presentation is especially timely and attendees will learn:

*Best practices for replying to online comments;

*Tips for handling comments on controversial subjects or stories;

*How to spot and manage inappropriate or offensive comments;

*The pros and cons of engaging with readers;

*Strategies for handling negative comments and personal attacks.

We welcome Nancy Wartik’s expertise and seasoned advice on a topic that can be tricky for many media professionals,” said Michele Turk, Connecticut Press Club President. “We are also thrilled to feature a journalist of her caliber in our newly launched, informative, Fireside Chat series open to both members and beyond.”

The fee is $15. Anyone interested in attending can sign up here.

The Connecticut Press Club is comprised of men and women who work statewide as professional writers, editors, and other media professionals. For more information about membership, click here.
