Great Hollows announces the addition of Visiting Scientists

Great Hollows Nature Preserve is pleased to announce the addition of Visiting Scientist Dr. Robert Clark and Post-doctoral Research Fellow Dr. Wales Carter to the Great Hollow team.

Dr. Clark is an entomologist who studies the roles of insects in forest and agricultural food webs, and the management of invasive insects using advanced modeling techniques. He joins us from Washington State University where he has been an Assistant Research Professor for the past year, and before that, was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow. Originally from Connecticut, he earned his B.S. and M.S. in Ecology and Environmental Science from Central Connecticut State University, and his Ph.D. in Biology from Wesleyan University.

Dr. Wales Carter is a physiological ecologist who studies interactions among nutrition, physiology, and behavior, particularly in the context of long-distance bird migration.  He recently completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Rhode Island where he studied the diet and spatial behavior of the imperiled New England cottontail rabbit. Prior to that, he earned a B.A. in Biology from Dartmouth College and a Ph.D. in Biological and Environmental Science from the University of Rhode Island.

Drs. Clark and Carter have already launched a collaborative project that combines their different areas of expertise (see below) and we look forward to many other exciting, new projects to come. Stay tuned!
