Reminder: NF taxes are Due July 1.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO ALL TAXPAYERS of the Town of New Fairfield that a tax with a Mill Rate of 31.49 on the assessment list of October 1, 2020 is due and payable at the Office of the Tax Collector.

The first installment of real estate and personal property taxes is due July 1, 2021. Motor Vehicle taxes are due in full on that date. Taxes, if not paid on or before August 2, 2021, are subject to an interest rate of (18%); 1 ½ percent per month, or fraction thereof, from the due date. Minimum interest charge is $2.00.

Failure to receive a bill does not relieve or excuse the taxpayer of his liability for the payment of his taxes or delinquent interest. Only one tax bill is mailed and is to be used for both installments. There is a $20.00 service charge for all returned checks.

To avoid long lines, pay your taxes online at www.newfairfield.org . If you have your original tax bill, payment may also be made from July 1st until August 2nd at the New Fairfield branches of Savings Bank of Danbury and Union Savings Bank. If payment is mailed, it must be postmarked by the USPS on or before August 2, 2021. If a receipt is desired, include a self-addressed stamped envelope with payment. Mailing address: Tax Collector, 4 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT 06812.

Any electronic checks received from your online banking account will be processed as of the date they are received. Electronic checks are mailed to us from your third party bill payment institution and provide us with no postmark date, therefore checks are processed (per Connecticut State Statute 12-146) as of the date received, regardless of date showing on the check.

Please allow ample time for mailing when initiating these online payments from your personal banking account.

Payments will be received at the Tax Collector’s Office, Town Hall, New Fairfield, CT: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
