Annual Photography Exhibit at Carriage Barn Arts Center to be juried by acclaimed portrait and documentary photographer PLATON

The Carriage Barn Art Center has announced details of the organization's 42nd annual juried photography show, opening January 22, 2022.  The exhibit will be juried by Platon, the internationally-renowned photographer and human rights advocate best known for his iconic portraits and photo essays for publications such as Time Magazine, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair.

All photographers — amateur, professional, and student -- may submit original photographic media; film photography and digital images will be accepted.  Criteria the juror will consider include: impact, creativity, style, composition, color balance, presentation, focal point, lighting, subject matter, narrative, and degree of difficulty.  Fine art photography of any subject is welcome; there is no required theme for entries.  Up to six photographs may be submitted and images should not have hung in previous Carriage Barn exhibits.

“It’s a tremendous honor that Platon will be making the selections for the upcoming photography show,” says Hilary Wittmann, executive director of the Carriage Barn Arts Center.  “His technical skill, intuitive approach and commitment to creating a visual language that breaks barriers will surely result in a visually stunning and thought-provoking exhibit.”

Photographers can find complete details and submit work for consideration online at carriagebarn.org, the deadline is December 11.  The exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, January 22, 2022 with a reception from 4-6pm.  Gallery hours are Wednesday - Saturday from 10am-3pm and Sunday from 1-5pm and the exhibit runs through Saturday, February 19th.
