"BARNUM" opens at The Brewster Theater Company on 7/15/22

The Brewster Theater Company’s colorful summer musical, Barnum, centers around the life of circus legend P. T. Barnum, also known as The Greatest Showman on Earth.

Barnum is brought to life at the Theater at Drew Church, 28 Gleneida Ave, Carmel, NY on Friday 7/15, Saturday 7/16, Thursday 7/21, and Friday 7/22 at 7:30. Matinee performances are on Sunday 7/17 and Saturday 7/23 at 2pm. Tickets are $25 at brewstertheater.org. While seats are sold at the door, pre-purchased reservations are highly recommended.

Judy Brewster of New Fairfield directs alongside her husband and musical director, Nate Brewster. “Barnum is pure escapism entertainment,” says Judy. “It’s just a really, really fun experience. It’s going to be a spectacle!” Director Brewster also comments on the energetic and supportive vibe of the cast itself: “We are stretching ourselves by learning brand new skills and have become a true circus troupe.” Barnum is choreographed by Brandy Mae Hughes of Bethel. It is stage managed by Chris Gillespie and produced by Joe Manuele, both of Carmel. Barnum’s music is by Cy Coleman; lyrics by Michael Stewart; and book by Mark Bramble. It is presented with permission by Concord Theatricals.

This energetic production highlights David Neilsen (Tarrytown) as P.T. Barnum, Ted Schwartz (Brookfield) as the Ringmaster, and CJ Umbrino (Carmel) as Chairy Barnum. Featured performers are Claudia Rachelle (Scarsdale), Madeline Olsen (Carmel)Jean Mazzilli (Stormville), Carolyn and Kevin McCarthy (Brewster), Rebecca Cebollero (Brookfield), Aranka Vitarius,  Denny Nikolopolus (Carmel), Janette Devine (Brewster), Ellie Hamilton, Nina Wilson (New Milford), Ruby Rocco (Yorktown), and Gabby DeCicco (Katonah).

The Brewster Theater Company is a non-profit, 501(c)3 community theater in its 22nd year of entertaining Putnam County and its surrounding areas. This project is made possible, in part, through the Putnam Arts Council’s Arts Link Grant Program with public funds provided from Putnam County. This season is sponsored by Hudson Valley Credit Union, Robert Malove Law, and the Carina Rush Foundation.
