Seema Bakhru, M.D. named First Female Chair of Radiology at Danbury and Norwalk Hospitals

Danbury, Connecticut – September 23, 2022 --  Premier Imaging, LLC, and its parent company, Danbury Radiological Associates, P.C. are honored to announce that one of their esteemed physicians, Seema Bakhru, M.D., has been named as the incoming Chair of the Department of Radiology at Danbury Hospital and Norwalk Hospital, member hospitals of Nuvance Health. Dr. Bakhru will be the first female to hold this position in the two hospitals’ history.

Dr. Bakhru is the recent Assistant Program Director of the Norwalk Hospital Radiology Residency Program. She has practiced with Danbury Radiological Associates for eight years, specializing in body and breast imaging. Following a position as the Chief Resident of Diagnostic Radiology at Hartford Hospital, Dr. Bakhru completed a Breast Imaging Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2013. She holds a Medical Degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth University.

Dr. Bakhru is one of a select group of highly trained and well-respected breast imagers providing services at both hospitals. Her impressive experience, deep skill set, and approachable professional style will be an exceptional fit for leading the department and supporting its commitment to women’s health.

Dr. Bakhru will fill the position previously held by Jeet Sandhu, M.D., who successfully led the department for 11 years. As Dr. Sandhu returns to clinical practice, his expertise in Interventional Radiology will be an integral part of the coverage of three hospitals.

“We are delighted that these two outstanding professionals continue to help us meet our mission of providing exceptional radiology and diagnostic imaging services to the region,” comments Michael Hollander, M.D., President of Danbury Radiological Associates and Premier Imaging.
