Wreaths Across America Convoy Travels Through Danbury, Ceremony at WCSU on December 13

Wreaths Across America Convoy to Arlington National Cemetery Traveling Through Danbury

Mayor Dean Esposito, the City of Danbury Department of Veterans Affairs, Western Connecticut State University, and the Connecticut State Department of Veterans Affairs are excited to announce that the Wreaths Across America convoy will be stopping in Danbury.

The event will take place at Western Connecticut State University at the Westside Campus-43 Lake Ave Ext, Danbury on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022 from 12:45PM to 1:45PM

The convoy will consist of 12 tractor trailers, 12 WAA wrapped Chevy vehicles, 3-4 Patriot Guard Motorcycles, 2 vans, 2 media vehicles, a box truck and over 20 police cruisers. The traveling convoy is about 1 mile long and may grow. The tractor-trailers are carrying wreaths from Maine that will be placed in Arlington National Cemetery. There will also be 160 individuals traveling in the convoy consisting of Gold Star and Blue Star Families, Veterans, Volunteers and staff.

Directly following the convoy’s arrival, there will be an indoor ceremony held in the ballroom of the WCSU Campus Center featuring remarks from Mayor Esposito, State of Connecticut Veterans Affairs Commissioner Thomas Saadi, WCSU President Dr. Paul Beran and Gold Star Mother Jean Mariano.

No tickets are necessary to attend the event. Attendees should park in the parking lot of the Visual and Performing Arts building. The public is encouraged to welcome and view the convoy from University Blvd. (no vehicles will be allowed to park alongside the road).
