The Ridgefield Theater Barn will hold open auditions for The Prom on Sunday, June 25th from 5 pm to 8 pm and Monday, June 26th from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
The musical, written by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin, with music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin, based on the original concept by Jack Viertel, will be directed by Deb Failla, with musical direction by John Failla. Performances will take place Friday and Saturday evenings from September 8th to the 30th at 8pm, with Sunday matinees September 17th and 24th at 5pm, and a special alcohol-free presentation Thursday, September 28th at 8pm.
When the PTA from Edgewater, Indiana, cancels the senior prom to block a lesbian student from bringing her date, four New York stars in search of a cause swoop in to save the day. This new musical comedy is “so filled with happiness that you think your heart is about to burst” (Variety).
For this inclusive, boundary-challenging, thought-provoking, incredibly timely, contemporary musical comedy, the production team seek a diverse, open-minded, and honest cast of performers to fill a wide range of roles. Members of the LGBTQ+ community are strongly encouraged to audition.
All roles are open and actors of all ages, ethnicity and gender identities are urged to audition. Auditioners should bring their resume, headshot, and sheet music (or backing track) for a prepared brief cut of a song to share. Comfortable dress is suggested for the choreography portion of the audition. Pre-registration is available via the RTB website.
