Former New Fairfield Resident Anthony Phillip O’Brien has Died

Anthony Phillip O’Brien

Anthony "Tony" O’Brien, 81, of Ocala, FL formerly of New Fairfield, CT passed away on June 20, 2017 at The Hospice of Marion County Legacy House in Ocala, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Quinn) O’Brien, who predeceased him in 2015.

Mr. O’Brien was born on July 16, 1935, in Plattsburgh, NY, eldest son of the late Francis. and Lillian O'Brien. For many years, he was an engineer for IBM, Poughkeepsie and later in Armonk.  Upon retiring to Florida, he established a successful career as a residential property appraiser.  In his later years, he was an admissions liaison in the administrative office of the College of Central Florida.  Mr. O'Brien was a former parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury.

He is survived by his daughters, MariEileen O’Brien of New York City and Michelle A. (William) Broggy of Danbury, two granddaughters, Sarah and Emily Broggy,  a brother, Jeremiah F. O'Brien, of Clemmons, North Carolina, sisters-in-law Monica Malet, of Poughkeepsie, NY and Maureen Roberts, of Delmar, NY, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.  Mr. O’Brien was predeceased by his son, Peter, in 1985.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8 at 10:00am at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury.  Immediately following, interment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Marion County Legacy House: PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478.
