Cultural Arts Coalition to turn Brewster Founder’s Day into Brewster Fall Festival

The Cultural Arts Coalition comes to the rescue! This April, the Coalition for a Better Brewster informed the Village that they would be unable to run the Annual Founder’s Day event that was held every September on Main Street in Brewster. Many were disappointed that the annual tradition was in jeopardy of being cancelled unless another organization picked up the reigns. With such a short amount of time to arrange the major event, it was unlikely that any organization would be able to step in.

Enter The Cultural Arts Coalition! The Cultural Arts Coalition is not only spearheading the restoration of the Old Town Hall (a historic landmark located at 67 Main Street within the Village of Brewster) but also is the organization coordinating the Annual Brewster Music Festival that is scheduled to take place on June 9th at Wells Park.

On May 23, 2018 the Village of Brewster Board of Trustees approved the Cultural Arts Coalition’s request to turn Brewster Founder’s Day into the Brewster Fall Festival. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 9, 2018, rain or shine.

“This event is too important to the residents, businesses, and organizations of our community. We need to continue the tradition,” explained Margaret Carey, Editor of Brewster HamletHub and Director of Public Relations for the Cultural Arts Coalition, “It is the day where we all can walk up and down Main Street to find out about all the exciting things Brewster has to offer while meeting friends and neighbors along the way.”

President of the Cultural Arts Coalition, Judy Marano stated, “The Cultural Arts Coalition is eager to help with the revitalization of the Village of Brewster. Our work has begun on The Old Town Hall Theater, but we still need to raise funds to continue our work. The Brewster Fall Festival will be a fundraiser to help us bring the theater back to life and provide the community with a fun filled day!”

For over 25 years, the Coalition for a Better Brewster brought us the Brewster Founder’s Day Street Fair. Their work resulted in many happy memories and smiling faces in the heart of Brewster and we thank them for their efforts. The Cultural Arts Coalition is in the process of developing a website which will contain information on registering for vendor space, food booths, entertainment and more. An interest meeting is scheduled for June 18 at 7pm at the Studio Around the Corner located at the back entrance of 67 Main Street in Brewster. Visit www.BrewsterFallFestival.com for updated information, to sign up for the e-newsletter, to express an interest in having a vendor booth space or to RSVP to the June 18th interest meeting. Sponsorship opportunities are available, interested parties should contact brewsterfallfestival@gmail.com.
