Shakespeare on the Green & Green Expo, Free Family Event at The Ridgefield Playhouse

People’s United Bank Presents Shakespeare on the Green & Green Expo: Hamlet at The Ridgefield Playhouse -- FREE Family Event on July 22

Bring the family for a free, outdoor day of fun! People’s United Bank presents Shakespeare on the Green & Green Expo at The Ridgefield Playhouse.  This much loved annual event brings in more than 500 attendees each year and is a “thank you” to the community. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, July 22.

The Green Expo runs from 12 pm – 4 pm and a family friendly version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, produced and performed by Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, will take place live under the tent at 2pm. Tickets for Shakespeare on the Green and Green Expo are FREE but must be reserved by calling the box office at 203-438-5795, with a limit of 6 tickets per family on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will be held at the box office until 1pm the day of the show. In addition to People’s United Band, this event is underwritten by Trish Breede, Ann & Steve Carlson, and Pitney Bowes and sponsored by The O’Connell Family and Keller Williams Realty with support from All Season Tent & Party Rental and Pepsi.

This haunting tragedy begs the devastating question: Where should a young man turn when his father is killed, his mother remarries, and the life he knew has been taken from him? At its heart, Hamlet is a play about young men and women struggling with loss, death, and the inescapable feeling that they don’t fit into the world around them. Offering audiences the opportunity to see themselves reflected in Shakespeare’s brooding language, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s 90-minute production brings an intimacy and immediacy to Prince Hamlet’s iconic story of murder and madness.

The experts who will be participating in the Green Expo will explain how easy it can be to implement sustainability in our workplace practices, in how we run our homes and how we can make everyday choices that are not only good for us but also for the environment. Food samples, food for purchase, product information and demonstrations make this “green” entertaining and educational event one not to miss. Community sponsors include: Candles Inspired by Nature, Citra Solv, Alex Fischetti, Krystal Kleer Water, Michael Chekhov Theatre Festival, The Olive Oil Company, Putnam Service Dogs, Renewal by Andersen, Ridgefield Conservation Commission, ROAR, The Rooted Plow, Three Roots Education & Town of Ridgefield Organics Program and UK Gourmet.
