Local Norwalk Charity Fights Child Abuse with KIDZFEST: A Family Fun Day!

Human Services Council is continuing the fight against child abuse with the 8th Annual KIDZFEST Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser benefitting Children’s Connection Child Advocacy Center.

KIDZFEST will be held rain or shine on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 10 am – 3 pm at Taylor Farm Park, Calf Pasture Beach Road in Norwalk.  The event provides a unique opportunity for families to explore construction, emergency and recreation vehicles of all sizes that are typically off-limits to the public. This hands-on interactive family event has more than 50 Real Vehicles that dig, climb, rescue, crunch, honk and fly!  The cost is just $5 per person.

Emergency vehicles include police vehicles, military trucks, cranes, crime scene investigation trucks and ATVs, ambulances, Norwalk smoke house and fire trucks, construction vehicles, cement mixers and the most popular spectacle of the day - the Eagle Three Helicopter! (weather-permitting from 10 – 1130 am)  Wear your Halloween costume and “truck or treat” with us and at 1pm march in the costume parade with all of your favorite mascots!  Attendees can also ride the Roaming Railroad and test their luck at the roaming raceway, get their face painted, dance to the music, win cool prizes at our game stations and take photos with Fairfield University’s Lucas the Stag, Storm the Sound Tiger, and many other characters!

The event will feature music from 99 Dollar DJ & Entertainment Service with radio personality John Voket who will be our emcee for the seventh year in a row, as well as the awesome folks from radio station 95.9 the Fox.  Planet Pizza of Norwalk and Kona Ice will be on hand with delicious food and dessert for purchase.  New this year, we added a vendor village which will include a little bit of everything!

KIDZFEST raises funds to support Children’s Connection, a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center that brings together dedicated, caring investigative and treatment professionals, to wrap around families who have experienced child sexual and severe physical abuse while working towards its mission of creating a world where no child is harmed and no family is left without guidance.  “We look forward to this event every year.  It gets families outside and brings all of our communities together to celebrate the joy of being a kid” said Kari Pesavento, Director of Children’s Connection.  “KIDZFEST is the biggest touch a truck in Connecticut and our law enforcement partners from Weston, Westport, Wilton, New Canaan and Norwalk make the event a huge success.  Every year we add something new and it all adds up to a day of FUN! ” If you would like to make a donation, be a sponsor of the event or participate in KIDZFEST, please contact Kari at 203-354-1961.

We are so grateful for the kindness and charity of the KIDZFEST 2019 sponsors who make this event possible and so successful.  Southfield Center for Development, Paymer Associates, Peter and Lauren Murphy, EFA Partners, Norwalk Police Union, Norwalk Police Benevolent Association, New Canaan Police Union, New Canaan Police Benevolent Association, Wilton Police Union, Wilton Police Benevolent Association, Westport Police Benevolent Association, Weston Police Union, Sequel, and Renewal By Anderson.
