CVRLT Vice President Faline Schneiderman brings a love of history and nature to serving CVRLT and our community

Faline began her connection to the land in childhood: "I spent a lot of time playing in the woods as a kid and hiking in the Shawangunk Mountains. I knew I could always venture into the forest if I needed a place of respite and retreat." A UConn alumna with an M.A. in Anthropology, Faline has worked for more than three decades in the fields of archaeology, historic preservation, land use and environmental activism.

Preserving and enjoying history and nature

Today, Faline is an adjunct professor of sociology and anthropology at Western Connecticut State University, and is a Vice President of Historical Perspectives, Inc., a cultural resources management firm. She has been a long-time servant on local land use and historic preservation boards, including Preserve New Fairfield and the Fairfield County Preservation Network, and is a founding member of her local Historic Properties Commission.

For Faline, her civic commitments "reflect my core personal belief of shared stewardship of the earth. I strive to protect the environment, and to preserve and celebrate distinctive and invaluable landscapes for future gnerations." Hiking is one of the many ways Faline enjoys nature, shown here with her son on the trail in Kent, CT
