Jr. Hat Tricks win high scoring contest in New Jersey

The NA3HL Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (4-8-0-1) took down the New Jersey Titans (8-3-0-0) 8-6 on Wednesday afternoon.

With just over four minutes to play, Elijah Devereaux scored his third of the season to give the Hat Tricks a 7-6 lead.

The Hat Tricks got off to a strong start, scoring two goals in the first 11 minutes of the game. Ivan Kovalev scored his first of the year just 1:43 into the game and Reese Tamburo added his third at the 10:49 mark.

The Titans answered with four straight goals of their own. After that stretch, the Hat Tricks netted three straight.

Kovalev and Tamburo each put home their second of the game. Nikita Kovalev got into the action with a short-handed breakaway goal.

“Very happy with a win, but we have a lot to clean up,” said head coach Tyler Noseworthy. “It shouldn’t take eight goals to win hockey games. Details were not there tonight. We need to be better on the defensive side.”

After two, it was tied 5-5. The Hat Tricks rolled in the third period, outscoring New Jersey 3-1 in the final frame.

New Jersey scored 32 seconds into the third, but Seth Beagle answered with his first of the year to tie the game at 6.

After Devereaux’s game-winner, Nick Rogers added his 7th of the season into an empty net.

The NA3HL Jr. Hat Tricks return to action on Saturday at home against Long Beach. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and tickets are available on danburyhattricksna3.com.

The game will also be available on HockeyTV.
