Good news for lovers of discovering new music and great beer! The Ridgefield Playhouse has added complimentary beer tastings to all of the shows in its Emerging Artist Series thanks to Star Distributors, beginning with indie-folk duo Shovels & Rope on Thursday, August 30 at 8pm. The beer tasting will be held in the lobby before the show at 7:15pm and will feature Two Roads Brewing Company. Other shows in the Emerging Artists Series include Easton Corbin on September 7, Cynthia Erivo on September 16, Lucky Chops on October 11, The Lone Bellow on October 30, Parsonsfield & Sawyer Fredericks on November 4 and The Liberal Redneck Presents: The wellRED Comedy Tour on November 14, all of which will have tasting of Star’s craft beer brands, which include Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Cisco Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing Company and many more.

Americana Music Association Award winners Shovels & Rope are married singer-songwriters Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. The Charleston, South Carolina-based indie-folk duo is best known for the songs “Birmingham,” “The Devil Is All Around” and “I Know,” as well as for their rocking NPR Tiny Desk Concert. The duo has been touring and performing to sold-out crowds coast to coast almost non-stop since the release of their critically acclaimed album, Little Seeds, in 2016. The band’s new covers album, Busted Jukebox, Vol. 2, was produced by Trent and features a diverse selection of songs originally written and recorded by an eclectic list of artists, including The Clash, Concrete Blonde, Leonard Cohen, Faith No More, Sigur Ros, The Breeders, Willie Nelson and more. Guest artists such as Brandi Carlile, Hayes Carll, Nicole Atkins, John Fullbright and Rhett Miller help inject a new energy into these revised renditions of these tried and true classics.

The Shovels & Rope show is also part of the Mountain Dew Country & Bluegrass series. Make it a great night out with dinner and a show: visit 850 Degrees Wood Fired Restaurant (424 R.
