Want to start a business but don't know where to begin, This workshop series conducted by a team of professionals from SCORE, Fairfield and Western CT Chapters. will give you the boost to get you on your way,

Attendees are expected to attend all five sessions and those who attend at least four classes can request a certificate of class completion. Part 1: Self-Assessment/Business Plan September 6th

Learn about the risks and rewards of starting a business in today’s competitive marketplace. The traits of successful entrepreneurs will be discussed to assess one’s innate and acquired ability to start and manage a successful business. The session will also focus on structuring a dynamic business plan.
 
Part 2: Marketing Strategy & Research September 13th
Learn the importance of market research and planning to start-up and build a competitive and successful business. Emphasis will be on sound market positioning of a small business’s products or services within its target market that will enhance profitable sales and success.
 
Part 3: Website and Social Media Marketing September 20th
Learning how to execute successful marketing effort is the core of this presentation that will include interactive attendee worksheets. The use of online-based marketing tools, including website and social media, will be extensively discussed.
 
Part 4: Financial Reporting & Planning September 27th
This presentation reviews a business’s key financial statements and walks the participants through the development of a comprehensive financial plan. The importance of understanding the key financial drivers of the business will be a center-piece of the discussion.
 
Part 5: Funding Sources/Conversations with Entrepreneurs October 4th
Learn about the funding structures required for start-up businesses today, including a presentation from lending sources specializing in start-up and small businesses. Includes discussion and Q & A with SCORE-mentored, start-up business entrepreneurs.
