“The times they are a-changin,” so much so that it seems our routines are imagined!  One industry holding on tight during this rocky ride is the restaurant business. Eligible to reopen during the governor’s Phase III schedule, the final approval is dependent upon how well our region overcomes the virus and successfully meets the matrix criteria outlined by the Governor and his reopening advisory board.

We are all anxiously awaiting an announcement regarding when the Mid-Hudson Region will qualify to reopen restaurants, what their occupancy standards will be and discover who will continue to operate when this pandemic is over.  However, there is one eatery we can count on reopening … the historic Muscoot Tavern. Located in the Town of Somers, and found in Katonah, NY when searching google maps, the Tavern has deep roots, and has literally settled into the intersection of Routes 100 & 35 over the course of 100 years in the community.  If you’ve driven past the 105 Somerstown Road location, you’ve seen the vintage automobiles perched at the parking lot’s two entrances, as history and restoration are trademarks of the community-supported landmark.

A long-time vintage automobile enthusiast, the restaurant’s current proprietor, Bobby Epstein is very grateful to the community for it’s loyalty that has enabled the restaurant to achieve its 100-year milestone. “We’re one of the oldest restaurants in Westchester and plan to honor that distinction in dramatic fashion with a FREE CAR GIVEAWAY,” Epstein announces. “Unfortunately, Pause NY threw our anniversary plans into a holding pattern.  When Phase III is initiated for our region, planning will resume for an elaborate thank you event, culminating in our giving away a fully restored, 1967 Mustang Convertible to one of our customers.” Epstein continues,
