Supreme Court Sides with "Dreamers" on DACA.

The United States Supreme Court yesterday rejected the Trump administration's attempt to end the program protecting undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children, also known as “dreamers.”

Chief Justice John Roberts was the deciding vote in the 5-4 decision, which deals a legal defeat to President Donald Trump on the issue of immigration, a major issue in his agenda.

Justice Roberts wrote in the decision that the government "failed to give an adequate justification for ending the federal program".

Trump responded to the decision by tweeting his displeasure and turning it into a call for his reelection, with a specific focus on gun-rights supporters: “These horrible & politically charged decisions coming out of the Supreme Court are shotgun blasts into the face of people that are proud to call themselves Republicans or Conservatives. We need more Justices or we will lose our 2nd. Amendment & everything else. Vote Trump 2020!”

The administration could try to shut it down by offering a more detailed explanation for its action, but the White House might not want to end the program in the middle of a presidential campaign.

Roberts was joined in the majority in the 5-4 decision by the liberal Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.
