Callahan defeats Onofrio

Republican Pat Callahan defeated Democrat Annette Onofrio in the general election for Connecticut House of Representatives, District 108 this past Tuesday. The 108th District represents New Fairfield, Sherman and parts of Danbury and New Milford.

Callahan received 58.6% of the vote with a total of 6,003 votes while Onofrio received 41.4% or 4,234 votes.

Yesterday, Callahan posted the following on his Patrick Callahan for State Representative Facebook Page

"Thank you for all the support on this up and down ride during my campaign. I am honored to have earned so many votes and a big win for our district. I'll be retiring in January so I can devote my attention full time to the people of our district.
Great celebration at the best pub in town- the 440 Line. Thanks to Justin and his staff for the victory party on Tuesday night. Thanks to my wife Andrea, State Rep. Richard Smith, Former State Rep. Mary Ann Carson, and my friend and treasurer Rich Stroh. Rich put up with hundreds of phone calls from me and did a perfect job. Headed to Hartford tonight for my first meeting at the LOB. I'll be shutting this FB page down in a week or so. My official FB page will come up in January. Thanks again to all my supportive friends and my wonderful family."

Members of the Connecticut House of Representatives serve a two-year term and are not subject to term limits. Connecticut legislators assume office the Wednesday following the first Monday of the January next succeeding their election and receive a salary of $28,000 per year.
