Connecticut Man Arrested in Putnam County After Stealing Property from Cars in Connecticut and Fleeing

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley, Jr. reports the arrest of a twenty-year-old Danbury man for possession of stolen property and possession of a weapon.

On March 4, 2018, at approximately 2:45 a.m., while on patrol in the Town of Southeast, Deputy Sheriff Vincent Dalo observed two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed on Danbury Road.

With the assistance of the New York State Police and the Brewster Police Department, both vehicles were stopped.

After an investigation it was determined that the driver of one of the vehicles, Alex J. Cardenas-Tacuri, age 20, of Danbury Connecticut, had fled the State of Connecticut after stealing items from several unlocked cars.

The occupant of the other vehicle was a victim who was pursuing Mr. Cardenas-Tacuri after the suspect had allegedly been observed going through unlocked vehicles in the victim’s driveway in the City of Danbury.

Mr. Cardenas-Tacuri was found to be in possession of stolen items taken from several vehicles, and he was also found to be in possession of a switchblade knife.

He was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th degree. Mr. Cardenas-Tacuri was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,000 bail.
