The TAB is a group of local High School Teens in grades 9-12 who come together for a substance free evening.

This event is sponsored through our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) at the Housatonic Valley Coalition Against Substance Abuse (HVCASA).  Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Sherman and surrounding area 9th-12th graders are welcome to attend.

TAB was created to provide our area youth with a voice regarding substance use and the general health of the young people in our region.  These Friday night events are their vision for providing a substance free opportunity for fun and fellowship.  TAB meets for dinner, discussion, projects, field trips, and guest speakers.

TAB meetings are directed by Joyce Sixsmith, MA, LADC, Substance Abuse Counselor/Prevention Specialist.  Joyce is President of the RAM Council Foundation, Inc., with membership of nearly 100 New Canaan, CT teens committed to substance-free living.

April 5th will start with food and then an on-line based prescription drug learning module.  After, there will be further discussion on the Substance Use the participants see within their worlds.

All participants will receive a $20 gift card.

The voices of our youth are incredibly important to HVCASA to help create a whole life span perspective on substance abuse and mental health, as well as inform our Community Needs Assessment.
