The State Police would like to remind you of some proactive measures to protect your vehicle and other property

Over the past few months, many towns in Connecticut, including Stafford, have been plagued by motor vehicle burglaries and motor vehicle thefts.

It is important to note that in ALL of the cases investigated thus far by State Police and Constables the involved vehicles were unlocked; many had keys left inside them.

Personnel assigned to the Stafford Resident State Trooper’s Office have been working with other State Police troops, the Eastern District Major Crimes Squad (EDMCS), and local police departments to resolve these cases. As a result of this cooperative effort, suspects have been identified and stolen property has been recovered.

On Thursday, November 21, 2019, a juvenile suspect from Hartford was arrested as a result of their involvement in several of these cases, which spanned multiple towns and jurisdictions.

The charges against this juvenile include Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, and Larceny. Additional arrests are expected.

The State Police would like to remind you of some proactive measures to protect your vehicle and other property:

• Don’t leave keys in your vehicle
• Remove your valuables from your vehicle
• Lock your vehicle doors
• Lock the doors to your house

Help us to help you. If you see something or someone acting suspicious in your neighborhood, call the police. Working together, we can make a difference in your town.
