On Tuesday, November 26, 2019, the Danbury Police Department received numerous complaints regarding threatening texts that were sent to several Danbury High School students, which suggested they not attend school on the following day, as they would be targeted to be shot. In response to the complaints, an investigation was conducted by the Danbury Police Departments General Investigations Division with assistance from the Danbury High School Resource Officers as well as the Danbury High School Administration.

During the investigation, it was learned that the text messages originated with the same source. Through numerous search warrants, interviews, and other investigative techniques, the source of these threats was identified as a 17-year-old Danbury male, who was arrested on December 5, 2019, for the charge of Breach of Peace in the 2nd degree. He will appear in Juvenile Court at a later date.

The Danbury Police Department, as well as the Danbury School Administration, will continue to work with school officials to ensure the safety of the students at Danbury High and all of our schools.
