Yesterday Governor Lamont welcomed U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Jerome M. Adams to the Connecticut Public Health Laboratory in Rocky Hill, where all of our state's coronavirus testing is now being conducted. They discussed the latest developments on the illness and held a media briefing. Watch the briefing on video here.
Over the weekend, the first tests at the state laboratory were conducted for two Connecticut residents, both of which came back negative for coronavirus. To date, there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Connecticut.
The Governor is urging all residents to remain vigilant and prepared. That means taking some simple steps throughout your day:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid shaking hands as a greeting.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
