Connecticut State Police Announce they will begin accepting NEW Pistol Permit Applications by Appointment only.

The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection announced that, Troop E Headquarters in Montville, and Troop G in Bridgeport, will reopen for pistol permit applicants by appointment only.  HQ will be open on Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 4:00pm.  Troop E and G will be open on Tuesday through Saturday from 08:30 am – 3:00pm.  Appointments can be made online by the location specific link below:

DESPP-HQ will reopen on a limited basis for new pistol permit applicants by appointment only.  Appointments can be made through Eventbrite.  Please be aware these dates have been sold out.

This system is for NEW pistol permits only. Appointments will begin Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

Appointments will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8:30am - 4:00pm until June 11, 2020.  Effective June 15, 2020, appointments can be made from Monday through Friday at DESPP-HQ, and Tuesday through Saturday at Troop E – Montville and Troop G – Bridgeport (varying hours). If you need to cancel an appointment, you must do so through Eventbrite and not by calling the Special Licensing and Firearms Unit.

Upon entering the building, a temporal scan will be performed. Nobody will be admitted if they have a temperature above 100.4. A mask or cloth face covering must be worn. Only the person with an appointment will be admitted into the building.

If you are having problems with the Eventbrite website, you may call 860-685-8290. Due to high call volume, the method of scheduling your appointment is through the website.

Please bring the following to your appointment:

1. Temporary permit;

2. Birth certificate or Passport;

3. Photo ID;

4. $70.00 check, money order (payable to "Treasurer, State of CT" ) or Exact cash.

No pistol permit renewals will be accepted. During this reopening, pistol permit renewals will continued to be processed through the mail.
