Lamont moves up Phase 2 to June 17th.

Governor Ned Lamont has decided to advance Phase 2 of Connecticut's re-opening plan a few days. The announcement was made on his twitter page earlier today. (See accompanying photo)

The original date for the start of phase 2 was June 20th but in order to avoid having Phase 2 implemented on what is expected to be a busy Fathers Day Weekend it was decided to move the date up a few days. The original date was June 20th. Lamont has moved that to June 17th.

Under Phase 2, the following businesses will be allowed to open. Amusement parks, bowling alleys, gyms and fitness studios, hotels but not hotel bars, libraries, nail salons, indoor restaurants, spas, tattoo parlors, and theaters.

The guidelines for specific businesses should available soon. Previously, announced guidelines had Phase 2 outdoor events and gatherings being limited to 50 people, up from 25.

Phase 3 will include bars, indoor event venues, indoor amusement parks and arcades. That phase should happen about 4 weeks after Phase 2,  provided there isn't a spike in COVID-19 cases.

In a second Twitter post a few minutes later, Lamont said "Our public health professionals are continuing to monitor test results for possible links to large demonstrations, but as long as COVID hospitalizations and infection rates remain low, we will be in a very good position for a June 17 phase 2 (re-opening).)
