EVERSOURCE DEPLOYING RESOURCES FROM SATELLITE COMMAND CENTERS AS AROUND-THE-CLOCK RESTORATION EFFORTS CONTINUE

As around-the-clock restoration efforts to repair the extensive damage that Tropical Storm Isaias caused to its electric system in Connecticut, Eversource is operating from six satellite command centers in addition to its regular work centers. With more than 1,600 crews working tirelessly on the ground while adhering to strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the energy company has restored power to approximately 717,000 customers as of 10 a.m. since the storm began. Eversource expects to have the vast majority of the remaining 290,000 customers without power back on line by Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. – with many being restored sooner. Town-by-town restoration estimates will be available later today.

“These satellite command centers put our crews and materials closer to the areas where they’re needed most, providing us greater flexibility to more quickly deploy the massive crew resources that we’ve brought into Connecticut,” said Eversource President of Regional Electric Operations Craig Hallstrom. “We remain grateful to our customers for their patience during these unprecedented times of COVID-19, and we will not rest until every customer has power.”

The satellite command centers are located in six of the hardest-hit regions of Connecticut: Berlin, Cheshire, Madison, Norwalk, Tolland, and Torrington. These local centers supplement Eversource’s regular work centers, reducing materials bottlenecks and providing more efficient deployment of crews through a more localized approach.

Each location is led by an experienced commander with complete control of the restoration process in their area, a mobile command center, dedicated crews, supervisors, and damage assessors, as well as road-clearing and other equipment. Eversource has more than doubled the number of its restoration crews since the storm began, and additional out-of-state crews will continue arriving throughout the day today.
