Covid-19 Cases rise in New Fairfield

As of November 9, there are 16 confirmed, active cases of COVID-19 in New Fairfield. The number of active cases in Town continues to increase, the the average daily case rate per 100,000 residents has now increased to 14.4, which is within the “orange level” of the CT DPH COVID response framework. The guidance encourages high risk individuals to stay home and stay safe, all residents to avoid large gatherings and to limit time with people outside of your household. The framework directs the Town will to scale back public events and activities.

In addition to the Phase 2.1 restrictions detailed by the Town on Friday regarding gathering sizes have also been reduced in the State's new "Phase 2.1" rules. Private social and recreational gatherings held at commercial venues are restricted to 25 people indoors and 50 outdoors. Private gatherings at private residences are limited to 10 people both indoors and outdoors. I understand that everyone is disappointed to see gathering sizes limited once again. Governor Lamont has made it very clear in announcing the new restrictions that the purpose is to slow community spread with the goal of keeping our students in school and parents at work. Please keep this in mind and remain vigilant.

Wearing a mask is a crucial tool in limiting the spread of the virus, and is REQUIRED in public spaces. If you experience symptoms or have close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, please self- quarantine and get tested with a reliable “PCR” test. It is also critical to cooperate if contacted by our contact tracers to identify anyone with whom you may have had “close contact” as defined by the CDC. These are the things that we can all do to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
