Winter Weather Advisory for the region is in effect for Putnam, Westchester and Western Connecticut

Earlier today the National )Weather service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Southeastern NY State Western Connecticut along with northern New Jersey. The advisory in in effect from 4am tomorrow (Thursday) morning through 7pm on Friday evening. 

Snowfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected in the Putnam County and Northern Westchester region Thursday, with total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 9 inches by the end of the event on Friday. Higher accumulations are expected in Dutchess County and further north while some areas in lower Westchester and NY City could see a mix of rain with snow.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and / or the evening commute.

This will be a long duration winter weather event. Light to moderate snowfall is likely early Thursday morning into the afternoon. Periods of light snow are then expected Thursday Night into Friday morning, before ending in the afternoon.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.
