YardScapes Donates $15,000 to Pratt Nature Center

New Milford, CT – YardScapes Landscape Professionals is proud to announce that all $15,000 in proceeds raised at the 16th Annual Quad-Am Golf Classic were donated to Pratt Nature Center, a non-profit organization in New Milford, CT.

Shayne Newman, who founded YardScapes in 1990 says, “Our company philosophy states, ‘We believe that everyone, everywhere, benefits from a connection with nature’ and that mindset aligns perfectly with The Pratt Nature Center’s mission.”

The Pratt Center is a 205-acre wildlife preserve and environmental education center in New Milford and was founded in 1967. Their mission statement reads, “The Pratt Nature Center’s mission is to stimulate a lifelong responsibility for and joy in the natural world by encouraging people to experience themselves as part of nature, dependent on the Earth’s resources.” Pratt Nature Center provides wonderful opportunities for outdoor fun and discovery and is a US Department of the Interior designated National Environmental Study Area. They boast a homeschool program that is nature-based and experience-focused to help enrich the education of children in a natural setting and they continually host diverse programs and events that are fun for all ages. Diane Swanson, Executive Director at Pratt, says, “We are always so happy to have YardScapes’ support and this donation will make a significant impact on Pratt’s wish list to expand on programs or fix-up a few things for all the children and families that come to experience this wonderful outdoor center ".

What started as a “hackfest” in 2005, has transformed into the YardScapes Golf Classic and draws community-minded professionals from Litchfield County and beyond. The 2021 tournament was held in September at the exclusive Bulls Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, and player registration sold out in record time.
To date, this tournament has raised over $111,000 for local non-profit organizations in the New Milford community.

YardScapes has an impressive record for volunteerism and giving back to local communities through this tournament, their spring and fall days of service, Green Care for Troops, and other various events, activities, sponsorships, and donations throughout the year. Shayne believes, “When it comes to giving back, we feel it’s important to do what we can in the communities where our clients and associates live and work. We proudly support the efforts of a wide range of non-profits and programs both locally and nationally.”
