New Milford VNA & Hospice is pleased to announce an upcoming event, the first annual Wings of Hope, to take place on Sunday, September 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Harrybrooke Park in New Milford. Wings of Hope is a very special fundraiser which will celebrate and remember the lives of deceased loved ones.
The event will feature a live butterfly release. Participants are invited to purchase butterflies in memory of their loved ones. Butterflies symbolize change, transformation, joy and hope, and participants will release their butterflies in a symbolic gesture, both of remembrance and letting go. This special day’s events will also include inspirational readings and music, including that of Patrick McGuire, a member of the Celtic Cross Bagpipers. There will be face painting for children, a craft corner, Memory Quilt Display, and hand-crafted butterfly jewelry and refreshments will be available for purchase. The event continues the very special tradition of Tree of Life which for twenty-one years helped Hospice families and all members of the community remember their loved ones while raising funds for New Milford VNA & Hospice. Proceeds from Wings of Hope will support ongoing care for terminally ill individuals and their families in 18 western Connecticut communities.
