It’s Bagels Over Broadway at Merryall on Sunday!

Singer and director Jessica Smith makes a triumphant return to the Merryall stage performing everyone’s favorite Broadway melodies, accompanied by noted pianist and musical director Tom Morris. Brunch is on the musical menu from 11:30 a.m-1 p.m, then its Bravo to Broadway, an afternoon of music and memories with the talented duo from 1-3 p.m.

Not only a seasoned performer, vocal coach, and professor of Musical Theater at Sacred Heart University, Smith directed the Sound of Music at the Richter House Art Center this summer to the sound of thunderous applause echoing through the Danbury Hills. But, first and foremost, according to Smith, she is a performer …” I loved playing Nancy in Oliver; Ruth, another favorite, in a Wonderful Town and, of course, Winifred in Once Upon a Mattress.”

During this performance, “Bravo to Broadway…I want to take the audience on a trip to the Great White Way, exploring Broadway though song and storytelling.  I love this kind of show, it helps me make sense of the world—music does that for me”. That becomes evident when asked about her favorite songs which include” Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Take Me to The World’ and ‘Not a Day Goes By’, again Sondheim and ‘As Long as He needs Me’ from Oliver.  Smith invites you all to join her on this musical journey.

Brunch will be catered by New Milford’s very own The Bagel Barn featuring a variety of their renowned finely crafted bagels and house-made cream cheese spreads. Croissants, cherry tarts, cinnamon buns, an array of muffins, fruit salads are all included along with a complimentary mimosa and freshly brewed coffees and teas.

Tickets, $40 for brunch and the concert, or $25 for just the 1-3 p.m. concert, are available on-line at: merryallcenter.org.
