It’s Musical Show and Tell at Merryall with a Performance by Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter John John Brown on July 8th at 8 PM

In his debut performance at Merryall, New Milford’s “own” John John Brown performs his storytelling songs— a blend of folk, Americana, and Indie Rock—illustrated with giant comics and stunning visuals. An award winner at both the Kerrville and Florida Folk Festivals, he has been heralded by Music Mecca as a “melting pot of humor, longing, satire, and hope.” Brown takes his audience into the lives of fourteen unforgettable characters, telling and singing their universal yet unique stories.

Says Brown, “My music is simply songs that tell stories, the words and melodies are illustrated with giant canvasses, iconic photos created by my creative partner across the globe, Indonesian artist, Sapri. From our first digital meeting we realized we had a similar view of life from opposite ends of the world. We both believe songs tell stories…like the one about the aging Viet Nam vet or the orphan trumpeter, the married couple debating evolution, and a favorite: the high school sweethearts on their graduation day. You will meet them all during the performance.”

After eleven songs and one hundred thirty-five pictures, Brown decided to make an album and take his act on the road. He released his debut album, The Road to rave reviews and followed that up with his highly successful Americana Comics.

Dean Gray, Merryall’s Executive Director, looks forward to hosting Brown. “Our theater, known for its intimacy and engaging ambiance, is the perfect place to experience John John Brown’s personal performance. We are thrilled to showcase local artists of this caliber. My fellow Merryall board member, Bill Petkanas, told me Brown’s music reminded him of John Prine’s. John John’s that good.”

John John Brown’s performance at Merryall Center is Saturday, July 8th at 8 PM. Tickets, $25 for adults, and $15 for students are available online at www.merryallcenter.org. This event is appropriate for ages thirteen and up.

Merryall is a non-profit arthouse and community center located at 8 Chapel Hill Road in the heart of Litchfield Hills. For membership, sponsorship, or ticket info, visit the Centers website at merryallcenter.org.
