Connecticut residents, Lora Karam and Beverley Canepari, founders of Unlocking Connecticut, are celebrating eight years of their blog. The two fun-loving best friends started Unlocking Litchfield in 2015 and Unlocking Fairfield in 2017, but with continued requests from businesses all over the state, decided to launch Unlocking Connecticut in 2018, “Because we love all of Connecticut!” says Lora.
The duo celebrated their blog birthday and Bev’s 50th on Saturday, May 20th at Buck’s Rock Camp in New Milford. Invited business owners, family, and friends enjoyed food by Noujaim’s Bistro (Winsted), Local Gourmet (Southbury), and Sweet Maria’s (Waterbury). The Mobile Pub’s (Watertown) vintage caravan poured delicious drinks sponsored by Litchfield Distillery (Litchfield) and Aquila’s Nest Vineyards (Newtown).
A big hit of the night was the 360-camera provided by Powerstation Events (Cheshire). And Adam Broderick Salon (Southbury) made sure Lora and Bev’s hair was party-ready!
Lora and Bev share their adventures, stories, and experiences at local businesses. Their goal is to provide the inspiration to get out and try new places. “Our mission has always been to connect people and prospective customers with local businesses, as well as trying to get residents to go to places they’ve probably driven by a thousand times but never stopped,” says Lora.
“We try to be hands-on and cover as many different experiences around the state as possible. From glass blowing to boutique shopping, wellness, hikes, restaurants, and events, to name a few! We keep it fun yet informative,” says Bev. The blog features Lora’s professional photos showcasing each business and its specialties, and Bev’s creative words documenting their entertaining adventures.
Lora is an accomplished celebrity, events, and portrait photographer. She also works full-time at Theatre Projects Consultants in Norwalk, CT as a project coordinator, and owns a wholesale and retail jewelry business called Daisy Wilder (www.daisywilder.com).
Bev loves discovering new places and is always ready to take on the challenge of trying unique experiences on behalf of our readers while supporting great local businesses at the same time. She also works full-time at Bucks Rock Camp in New Milford as an administrative director.
