Creativity Connects New Milford: Meet Wayne Winsley, Founder of Brave Enough To Fail

Creativity Connects New Milford

What fuels a vibrant, connected, and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Brookfield?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in New Milford.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Wayne Winsley, founder and CEO of Brave Enough To Fail, a nonprofit geared toward helping students achieve success in school and beyond.

Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?

Brave Enough To Fail provides motivational programs and scholarships to middle and high school students. They have reached over 15,000 students and awarded $50,000 in scholarships over the past 5 years.  We do this by inspiring young people with the courage to pursue their dreams.

The mission of Brave Enough to Fail is to close achievement gaps by cultivating a new generation of leaders, creators, and achievers.

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

The Green because it’s a great place to relax. I regularly walk around the Green and Bank Street areas on Sunday mornings with one of my best friends. It's a great time to catch up and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s inspiring to see people heading to church or a breakfast cafe or working out near the gazebo and tank monument. You never know who you might run into! And, even if you don't run into anyone, it is just a nice stroll around a small New England town. Beautiful and relaxing.

What do you love about your community?

I love the great sense of community that New Milford offers. New Milford has several really cool events throughout the year that really display our community spirit such as the annual carol-sing and tree lightings during Christmas time or the memorial-day and other holiday parades.

While these are not unique to New Milford, they do offer opportunities for our unique community character to shine. I love the sense of neighborly-ness that most people in our town tend to show to one another.
