Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, along with community leaders, supporters, homeowner family and friends, and many volunteers celebrated the completion of a new Habitat home in New Preston on Sunday, September 19.
Shannon Kozak grew up in the Washington area, and is happy to raise her children in a community that has given her so much. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the Habitat family. My three kids and I are loving our beautiful new home.”

Like all Habitat homeowners, Shannon is contributing 250 hours of “sweat equity” working on the construction of her home as well as participating in other Habitat volunteer opportunities. She also attended financial literacy courses designed to help ensure her success as a new homeowner.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better match for our latest Habitat home,” says Housatonic Habitat Executive Director Diana Arfine. “They are such a special family, and are thrilled to have a place they can call home. Shannon is pleased to be back to her roots, surrounded by supportive family and friends.”
The building of the home was made possible due to generous sponsors, donated materials, dedicated volunteer labor, and the commitment of the homeowner. It was funded in part with the help of many community partners, including a generous financial contribution from Gridiron Capital.
Housatonic Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of qualified working families by promoting financial stability and self-sufficiency through ownership of affordable homes. This year marks Housatonic Habitat for Humanity’s 30th anniversary of bringing people from all walks of life together to build and repair homes, communities and hope.
