Memorial Service on May 7 for Daniel James Engstrom, 20, who passed away after tragic motorcycle accident

Daniel James Engstrom, 20, passed away after a tragic motorcycle accident on April 23, 2022. He was a graduate of New Milford High School, Class of 2019.

Daniel was born in Danbury, CT on July 19, 2001, son to Karen (Bass) Engstrom and the late Mats Engstrom. He was employed at TLC Ultrasonics Company in New Milford as a Transducer Assembly Technician.

Danny’s energy and agility were assets as he diligently practiced parkour. He loved jumping and flipping on trampolines and would train on his backyard American Ninja Warrior training apparatus, with a dream of appearing on American Ninja Warrior one day. As most kids do today, he played video games while hanging out with his friends when he was in H.S., was helpful to his family with tasks that needed to be done and loved working with his hands. He loved his dogs, Mindi and especially Mork. Danny graduated quickly from expertly maneuvering his battery-operated jeep as a toddler, to bicycles, dirt bikes, and all too soon fast cars and motorcycles, which he taught himself to work on. In many ways he was much like his father and truly had his sense of humor. His friends meant the world to him as you could always find them together.

In addition to his mother Karen, he is survived by his brothers, Timothy Engstrom of Thomaston and Andrew Engstrom of New York, niece Anabelle, nephew Mateo, his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Kenneth Bass of Danbury, paternal grandmother, Inga Engstrom of Ridgefield, aunts Susan St. Hilaire of Danbury, Linda Bass of Danbury, uncle Krister Engstrom of New York, cousins Amber and Aaron St. Hilaire and many close friends. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Gunnar Engstrom.

A memorial service will be held on May 7, 2022 at 12:00 pm at the Congregational Church of New Fairfield, 20 Gillotti Rd. New Fairfield, CT 06812. For those who cannot attend in person, a Zoom link will be available at www.ccnf-ucc.org or call 203-746-2865.

In recognition of his great love for “his boy Mork”, memorial donations may be made to New Milford Animal Welfare Society or to the Congregational Church of New Fairfield. Burial will be private in the Pembroke Cemetery in Danbury. Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford has been entrusted to care for Daniel.
