This afternoon, New Milford Mayor Pete Bass shared a letter written to the New Milford Public School community from Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Holly Hollander. In the letter (see below), Hollander announced that Superintendent DiCorpo has taken a leave of absence until September 2.
Dear Families,
I am writing to inform you that Superintendent DiCorpo has taken a leave of absence until September 2nd.
Administrators and the Central Office team are working to ensure a successful opening to our school year. We will also continue our efforts with the high school administrators, the Board of Education, and Mayor Bass to address the needs of NMHS. Our focus remains on the well-being and success of our students and on supporting our staff to deliver high-quality education.
We will continue to provide information about the remediation and restoration at the high school and details for the opening of the school year as it becomes available.
Your partnership is appreciated.
Mayor Bass said, "I am aware of Ms. DiCorpo's leave of absence. This will in no way impede the commitment of the Town and Board to continue to work through the tragedy that occurred at our High School on July 5th. We are working around the clock and will continue to do so with all hands on deck to reopen our school as quickly and safely as possible.
Thank you to Asst. Superintendent Hollander, Administration, Staff, The Board of Education, and our New Milford Community as we all work together with the opening of schools as our number one priority."
