Housatonic Habitat for Humanity will be honoring award-winning fashion designer Christian Siriano with their Spirit of Home Award at their upcoming Blueprints & Blue Jeans Fall Fundraiser.
This signature event, scheduled for October 4 at the Ridgefield Playhouse, celebrates the hardworking Habitat homeowners and dedicated volunteers, and recognizes the contributions of Habitat supporters throughout the community.
Siriano, a former Danbury resident, will be honored for his collaboration with Housatonic Habitat in designing a room for two-time cancer survivor Synthia in her new Habitat home in New Preston, CT. Known for his innovative and inclusive designs, Siriano is working to create a room that reflects the homeowner’s personality, interests, and needs. The Siriano design team plans to blend its own signature designs with carefully curated treasures sourced from Habitat’s Danbury ReStore, a thrift store that sells donated goods to support its mission of affordable homeownership.
“I am so excited to be able to create for someone who is so deserving of a beautiful sanctuary. A home is someone’s most sacred space and to be able to design something beautiful, comfortable and inspiring for Synthia to live her life and grow in is an honor to be a part of” says Christian Siriano.
Housatonic Habitat is currently building four new homes in the New Preston community, and Synthia is one of two homeowners who will be moving into their new homes this fall, with two more to follow later in the year.
“This project is more than just a room makeover. It’s a celebration of life and the indomitable spirit of our recipient” remarked Diana Arfine, Executive Director of Housatonic Habitat for Humanity. “We are thrilled to be working with Christian Siriano, our Spirit of Homes recipient, whose exceptional talent will undoubtedly turn this space into a sanctuary of joy and comfort for our deserving Habitat family.
CFDA designer Christian Siriano has established himself as a tour de force in the fashion world since launching his eponymous collection in 2008 following his studies in London under Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. Siriano’s designs have been worn by today’s biggest stars including current FLOTUS Dr. Jill Biden, former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie, Oprah, Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Julianne Moore, Lady Gaga, Tiffany Haddish, Billy Porter, Cardi B, Whoopi Goldberg, Julia Roberts, and Jennifer Coolidge, to name but a few.
