
Rita M. Egan, 61, of New Milford, CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7th, 2023, at St. John Paul II Center, Danbury, CT after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 19, 1962 in Mt. Kisco, NY to Gerard F. and Rita L. (McLoughlin) Egan, both predeceased.
Rita was the youngest of 7 children and is survived by her six brothers: Gerard F. Egan (spouse Linda) of Bristol, CT; Paul J. Egan (spouse Jacqueline) of Carmel, NY; Daniel J. Egan (spouse Pamela) of Chester, VT; Thomas J. Egan of Brookline, MA; Joseph P. Egan (spouse Suzanne) of Falmouth, MA; Michael J. Egan (spouse Denise) of Poughkeepsie, NY. She is also survived by an aunt; Veronica T. Egan of Falmouth, MA and an uncle; Daniel J. McLoughlin of Prescott City, AZ.
Rita will be greatly missed, especially by her 19 nieces and nephews and 22 great nieces and nephews who were all very special to her and who brought her great joy throughout her entire life.
Rita and her family resided in Mahopac, NY for many years where she graduated from Mahopac High School in 1980. Rita went on to study Business Administration at Grace Institute. She continued her studies at Post University where she graduated Cum Laude. Rita had a successful 25-year career at Boehringer Ingelheim.
Rita cherished the time she spent with her family, especially during holidays and special events. She would host many gatherings, never short on good food and decorations and always made sure there was a craft or special activity for “the kids”. She also treasured her long-time relationships with many, many good friends as well. Rita was a very caring and thoughtful person who was known to always put others first and make herself available to anyone in need.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Saint Gregory the Great Church; 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Interment will take place privately.
Memorial contributions in Rita's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, http://www.cancer.org or by bringing an unwrapped toy or other gift to the funeral home or church at the time of the services. Gifts will be exchanged with Saint Gregory the Great Church.
