New Milford Police Take Me Home Program to Help those with Autism and Alzheimers

Take Me Home is a confidential database maintained locally, for people who may need special assistance from the police. This kind of assistance may be required if the person is unable to speak or properly identify themselves, or if they become disoriented or act in a manner that could be misinterpreted.

The system includes a picture, demographic information and caregiver contacts. If a police officer encounters a person, a query can be made and the officers will have important information at hand to appropriately assist the person.

Chief Cerruto said, “It is my hope that this program helps bridge the gap between police and those with special needs. Our community, is all of us and we are all in this together. I want to help provide peace of mind to families, reunite loved ones as quickly as possible and open channels of communication between the police and the public.”

Registration forms are available at the New Milford PD or can be requested via email at, cgautrau@newmilfordpolice.org
