New Milford Police Department conducts underage compliance checks, nabs three locations to selling vaping products to underage customers

On June 22, the New Milford Police Department, in collaboration with the Danbury Police Department, conducted an undercover compliance check of ten businesses in New Milford that sell vaping products.
 
Three locations illegally sold vaping products to underage persons and the employee that sold at each location was issued an infraction for a violation of C.G.S. 53-344, Sale of tobacco products to persons under twenty-one, with a fine of $300.
 
The three locations that illegally sold were; Aladdin Smoke Shop at 166 Danbury Road, Royal Tobacco at 243 Danbury Road and Valero at 315 Danbury Road.
 
Seven locations properly asked for identification and did not sell vaping products to underage persons. Those locations were; Cumberland Farm at 376 Danbury Road, Sunoco Gas Station at 291 Danbury Road, Citgo Gas Station at 4 East Street, Gulf Gas Station at 29 Danbury Road, Friendly Service Station at 61 Danbury Road, New Milford Vapor and Smoke Shop at 129 Danbury Road and Food Mart at 31 Bridge Street.
 
Chief Cerruto said, "I want to thank all of the businesses who were found to be in compliance and encourage all businesses to check ID’s to prevent the use of tobacco and vaping products by underage minors."
 
The New Milford Police Department will continue to monitor local businesses and minors who frequent these businesses.
