THREE GREAT DOGS AVAILABLE AT THE NEWTOWN MUNICIPAL SHELTER

There are three dogs available for adoption at the shelter.

1) Blaze -  a 1 1/2 year old male of the "Heinz 57" variety. He weighs in at about 80 pounds and sports a very beautiful dark brindle coat with a white splash on his chest and the tips of all four paws. He is a powerful guy, just entering into the prime of his life. Blaze has an easy going disposition but it would be wise to exercise caution around children because of his size. He could also use some additional leash training.  If you have space enough for him to stretch out his legs and can offer the right amount of love & affection, Blaze will most certainly repay you with many years of companionship and devotion.

2) Sunny - a 1 year old pit bull/hound mixture weighing 30-35 pounds. Her coat can be described as light tan & white or possibly lemon & white - depending on how the sunlight falls on it and is very soft to the touch. While she is gentle and reacts well with people, she can be defensive and may not react well with other dogs. She was found abandoned on Zoar Road and was obviously just coming out of pregnancy. Sadly, her puppies were never found. Her teats were, therefore, unused and engorged with milk so as to make her quite uncomfortable. She received therapy at the shelter and is progressing well. Our bet is that she will fit into that new swimsuit in no time at all!

3) Misty - a 11 month old black and white female of the "Heinz 57" variety. She weighs in at 40 pounds or so but will doubtlessly gain some more as she matures. Misty, too, was abandoned and, when found, appeared to have some skin problems and was very shy. Her shyness seems to translate into an apparent mistrust of humans. But she is interested in people and will appear to want to be interactive with you. We are confident that, given the right conditions of love and patience, Misty can become a devoted companion for a good many years to come.  One word of caution: because of her shyness, she must not be allowed to roam. It would be highly desirable for her new owner to have a fenced in yard where she could exercise and learn to trust you.
