Dogs and Cats Available for Adoption at the Newtown Animal Shelter

1) Ziva - a 2 year old charming spayed female with a lovely gray tiger striped coat with a white chest and paws. She is a very clean & tidy cat but somewhat shy (as evidenced by peeking out from behind a counter). Her shyness, however, does not dampen her very sweet nature. Once you get to know her we can well imagine her spending many contented hours purring in your lap. She was abandoned and found her way to the shelter just about a month ago. She seems to do well with other cats. Ziva is a splendid example of feline beauty and grace and will surely enrich the lives of the caring family that decides to give her a forever home. She has a microchip embedded for identification and can be seen at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center located on Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT (203) 426-6900 or you may call Canine Advocates at (203) 426-5327.

2) Rico - a neutered 3 year old male cat with a gray coat and some tiger striping. He had been abandoned for quite some time and he was near to becoming feral. But, he is past that now since he does well with other cats and even had another feline "buddy". Sadly, for Rico at least, his buddy was adopted and now he is left to himself and the other cats at the shelter. He is a little timid with people but we are confident that he'll overcome that with a little TLC from some generous & kind family. He is quite vocal, making unique sounds in attempting to communicate. He, like all of the shelter dogs & cats, has a microchip. Rico's a handsome boy and well worth seeing at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center located on Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT (203) 426-6900 or you may call Canine Advocates at (203) 426-5327.

3) Bug - a neutered male cat around 5 years old or so. He's as black as coal and has beautiful yellow eyes. He is very sweet and about as laid back as a cat can be. He is very curious, loves people, and gets along with other cats. Just scratch his ear once and you've got a friend for life! Can't quite figure out why he is called Bug but, if you don't like it, he'll be receptive to whatever name you may decide on. All he asks is for you to give him a chance at becoming one of the best friends you'll ever have. This handsome micro-chipped guy can be seen at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center located on Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT (203) 426-6900 or you may call Canine Advocates at (203) 426-5327.

And the dogs:

1) Tyson - a pit bull mix, 1 year old, weighing 45 pounds or so with a soft brown coat and white chest & paws. He was signed over to the shelter by someone who couldn't quite manage the care of such an active and full of life young dog. He is a sweet dog with such enthusiasm for life that it is a sure thing that he will soon find a forever home. He gets along well with other dogs and even tolerates cats though the cats might find him too active for their liking. That boundless energy needs to be channeled in the right direction though - which is why he comes with the offer for free training. Tyson just loves people and, judging from his photo, even likes to hold hands! He is waiting for you at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center located on Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT (203) 426-6900 or you may call Canine Advocates at (203) 426-5327.

2) Mr Lee - an older dog, 55 to 60 pounds, and perhaps 8 years or more old. He is a neutered male of mixed lineage consisting of golden retriever, German shepherd, and maybe something else. His coat is of medium length being a very pale yellow to white. He was found roaming near Bennetts Bridge & Gelding Hill Roads in Newtown. Despite having been alone for some time, he is happy to be with people and loves going for walks. Mr Lee would make a nice companion to someone willing to share their home with him. He can be seen at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center located on Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT (203) 426-6900 or you may call Canine Advocates at (203) 426-5327.
