Congregational Preschool Closes—Come Celebrate the Memories

After 40 years of teaching kids to be kind and getting them ready for kindergarten, Kathy Murdy and her gang are closing shop at 14 West Street. As they move out, they're paying it forward: Books, puzzles and games will go to a Bridgeport teacher. The church will inherit the playground and drama equipment, and HealingNewtown, who will move into the space, will start out with some much-loved furniture.

Through the years, Kathy's taught over 2,000 kids. Known for her patience, wisdom and sense of humor, she feels good about HealingNewtown moving into the space: "Knowing they'll actually be in these rooms helps me," she said.

Speaking of helpers, these great folks were on hand today: Ethan Hanna, Kathy, Lauren Murphy, Melissa McKee, Ian McKee, and Eidan Hanna. They were cubby scrubbing, sorting and smiling.

If you'd like to join in on the party to celebrate the memories, stop by Congregational Church on June 17th, 3:30-6:00.
