It was neck and neck for dark horse Ken Duke and the ever-popular Bubba Watson in the final holes in the Traveler's Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT. Then Graham DeLaet and Chris Stroud were in the mix—any one of the four could be the champ.
Ken Duke was looking to be the oldest winner since 1995. He finished at 12 under. Suddenly, Chris Stroud shot an unlikely birdie on 18, and he was tied with Ken Duke, who waited in the clubhouse. Chris fist pumped to the roar of the crowd, swooped up his sweet little toddler, all dressed in pink and purple, and walked off the course.
With Bubba and Graham finishing at 10 under, it was a sudden death playoff for Duke and Stroud.
Prior to the tournament, Ken Duke was ranked 144, Bubba was 19, Graham DeLaet was 102, and Chris Stroud was 187... an unlikely crew to be the top dogs.
In the end, it was Ken Duke, the Duke of Cromwell, who finished with a birdie putt to become the champ. At 44, it was his first PGA win ever, and he was both grateful and gracious.
