
Though Newtown does not hold a Memorial Day parade of its own, that doesn't mean you need to miss all of the parade action. Find parades in these neighboring towns:
Saturday:
Redding's parade will begin with a ceremony 12:00 PM and parade starting at Redding Elementary School at 12:15 PM.
Sunday:
In Brookfield, the parade will begin after a 2:00 PM Memorial Service in Williams Park. The Brookfield Historical Center will host their annual strawberry festival with live music. This year the Governor's Horse Guard will participate in the parade festivities that begin marching at Brookfield High School.
Sherman's parade begins at 1:00 PM
In Danbury, a Memorial Day 5 K will start and end at the Green at City Center at 8:45 AM. The Memorial Day Parade will follow at 9:30 AM at Main Street and Rose Street followed by a service at the Rose Memorial Garden at 11:30 AM.
In New Milford, the parade will be held at 10:00 AM. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the VFW hall, 11 Avery Road at 10 AM
Ridgefield's parade will start at 11:30 AM at the Jesse Lee Church.
Parades will also be held on Memorial Day in the towns of Southbury, Washington, New Preston, Bridgewater, Roxbury, Kent, and the Gaylordsville section of New Milford.
