Ways to Make Dad Happy on Father’s Day

How do you make Dad happy of Father’s Day?

My husband said, “I’d like the kids to clean their room!” Well since that isn’t going to happen, let’s try a few ideas that won’t break the bank while avoiding buying him a tie!

  • Breakfast in bed: A newspaper, glass of OJ, cup of coffee and dad’s favorite breakfast nosh. All served with a smile.
  • Picnic in the park: Pack a blanket and a lunch and find a nice grassy patch - even if it is in your own backyard.

  • Walk or Bike the Putnam Trailway Click here for a map
  • Create a list of a bunch of cool apps for his phone and show him how to use them – Hey I didn’t say they were easy – I said they wouldn’t break the bank!

  • Pop in a DVD and watch a movie! Or splurge a little and take him out to the movies – Empire Cinemas has 3 movies running at 3 times each starting between 1pm – 7pm. Or go to AMC in Danbury where matinees before noon are under $7. Not the least expensive option - but there are a bunch of cool movies out right now!

  •  The HV Renegades are not playing on Father’s Day but you can buy him tickets to a future game at www.hvrenegades.com

  • Give him a homemade coupon book – need an idea -  go to the DLTK website for a free printable and customizable coupon book for Father’s Day. http://www.dltk-cards.com/coupon/cpn1.asp

  • Make your own cookbook for dad by visiting sites like www.allrecipes.com and print a bunch of recipes for Dad to cook – and make a cool cover to go with it. Think BBQ and Grilling.

  • Play a board game, or a Wii game as long as you do something together!

So whatever you do…give him a hug and a thank you, give him a call because you live far away or say a prayer because he is no longer with you…Make this Father’s Day a day he will remember.

Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s out there and remember:
